La banque bleue (Crédit maritime and Banque Populaire Grand Ouest)
Two brands demonstrating their commitment to the sea
A defining feature of the Banque Populaire Grand Ouest and Crédit Maritime Grand Ouest has always been their strong local presence, enabling them to work closely with their clients.
The western regions of France, both the inland areas and the coastline, were integral to the development of the two banks. Historically, they operated as a bank for entrepreneurs and a bank for those involved in maritime occupations.
On a daily basis they provide support for projects in marine and coastal areas to entrepreneurs, local business leaders and organisations, as well as private individuals.
Through all these initiatives there runs a common thread: passion for the ocean and the whole region and a desire to keep making it more dynamic and attractive.
Since bringing the two brands together to form the Banque Populaire Grand Ouest, the initiatives identified as blue growth projects have represented €120 million per year.
Blue growth at the heart
Blue growth and the maritime economy are growing in importance with every year that passes, as evidenced by the creation of a Ministry for the Sea in 2020.
The coastal areas of western France boast 2,700 km of coastline and the majority of the country’s maritime activity.
Convinced that the future of the region and the country is closely linked to the sea, the Banque Populaire Grand Ouest and Crédit Maritime Grand Ouest decided to create the Banque Bleue.
