One promising way of meeting our future food requirements is to make fish farming sustainable, ensuring it uses resources optimally and efficiently. The main objective of the A_FISH project is to develop extruded moist feed based on fresh ingredients – also known as bioresources. The project aims to add value to fresh bioresources by making fish feed without the need for a drying stage. The resources can be of animal origin(fisheries bycatch and by-products from the seafood processing industry) or plant origin(by-products from processing terrestrial plants).

The A_FISH project involves conducting a technical pilot study based on initial trials of manufacturing feed in accordance with the main established nutritional criteria. Local experiments will use the feed in small-scale fish farms.

This project aims to benefit fish farms (in both salt and fresh water), seafood processing businesses and the fishing industry.
